The new PIRENEA 2 set-up is an upgrade of PIRENEA (Piège à Ions pour la Recherche et l’Etude de Nouvelles Espèces Astrochimiques; Ion Trap for the Research and Study of New Astrochemical Species) to study the physical and chemical properties of isolated PAHs/nanograins. It combines sources of cosmic dust analogues with cryogenic trapping to study the interaction of relevant species with photons and gas under interstellar conditions.
