NANOCOSMOS Principal Investigators

NANOCOSMOS is divided into three teams, each one led by a Principal Investigator (P.I.).

Team 1 (IFF-Astro/CSIC) is led by José Cernicharo (Corresponding P.I.) at the Agencia Estatal Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) as Host Institution. The leading institute is the Instituto de Física Fundamental IFF-CSIC (previously, the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM, CSIC) until January 2018) The areas of expertise span from astrophysical observations and modelling, through the building of High-Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) amplifiers to laboratory experiments and spectroscopy. Other beneficiary institutions: Centro Nacional de Información Geográfica (GNIG-IGN); Universidad de Valladolid; Universidad de Castilla La Mancha.

Team 2 (CNRS) is led by Christine Joblin (P.I.) at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) as Host Institution. The leading institute is the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie (IRAP), joint research unit of the University Paul Sabatier – Toulouse III and the CNRS. The areas of expertise span from astrophysical observations and modelling, laboratory techniques (spectroscopy, mass spectrometry) to laboratory astrophysics.

Team 3 (ICMM-Surface/CSIC) is led by José Ángel Martín-Gago (P.I.) at the Agencia Estatal Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) as Host Institution. The leading institute is the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid (ICMM, CSIC) through the ESISNA group. The areas of expertise span from solid-state physics, nanotechnology, vacuum engineering, through theoretical physics to spectroscopy. Other groups belonging to this team: Instituto de Estructura de la Materia (IEM-CSIC).
